JOINING FORCES TO HELP THE HOSPITAL

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts could be the motto for a fundraising effort that, in two short years, has grown into a long-term commitment of two local businesses to support Southlake Regional Health Centre... The Edge (Benefits) found a willing and ready partner in Cardinal Golf Club, whose owner Dalt Hicks is a long-time hospital supporter. The company wanted to build on that support, says managing director Bob Kilgour, and joining forces with the Edge just made sense. “Anybody who has the means to help didn’t get there themselves,” Mr. Kilgour explains his take on philanthropy. Every success story has benefited from forward-thinking politicians who built the country or a strong community where people support one another and the infrastructure, such as local hospitals, required to allow families and businesses to thrive.
The 2010 tournament raised $68,000, which was directed to purchasing two infant care systems for the maternal child program.
